Attend one of the most anticipated events in Italy: The Palio di Siena.
Siena is one of the most fascinating and picturesque cities in Tuscany, known throughout the world for its Gothic monuments, for the famous horse race the Palio and for the delicious typical desserts such as Panforte and Ricciarelli.
The luxury package we have created pays homage to this historic event and in these 3 days we will let you savor the best of the best of Siena, its traditions, its history, its cuisine and of course the Palio.
For travelers , the Palio di Siena is an exciting horse race, very intense and folkloristic, which is held in Piazza del Campo twice a year: on July 2nd and August 16th.
For locals , however, it is much more. But the Palio, in its authentic meaning, cannot be understood if it does not fit into the division into "Contrade" (districts) that characterizes Siena.
The "Contrade" are a sort of fourth dimension, 17 small cities within the city, a concrete, organized reality, with a solid system and laws and customs that go back in time, but which keep their strength intact.
Life in the Contrade is vibrant: people chat, exchange passions, ideas, and learn to play instruments.
There is a lot of familiarity among locals in the Contrada, we always address each other on first terms because we feel part of the same reality made up of village festivals, concerts and outdoor dinners. Each district is like a small state, governed by a Prior and led during the Palio by a jockey, called Captain, who rides the horse. Each district has its own church where the equipment for the Palio is kept: costumes, standards, drapes, and flags.
Let's say that Siena lives all year long waiting for the Palio and each district awaits this moment to excel over the others.
For the people of Siena, the Palio is a competition that goes far beyond the event, it is pure pride.
With our Siena and Palio Discovery package we will let you experience the best of Siena and its area during the liveliest period of the year.

Pienza
Pienza is considered the ideal Renaissance city. It was thanks to Pope Pio II, born here in 1405 to parents who were members of the noble Sienese family, that the medieval village of Corsignano was transformed in 1459 according to the plans of Leon Battista Alberti. Piccolomini, an elegant and renowned humanist, once he began his ecclesiastical career and became Pope, strongly desired an urban center that was truly excellent and above all different and in antithesis with the appearance of the city that had unjustly alienated him and his family, that is Siena.
Montepulciano
It is famous for the wine to which it gives its name, stands on a hill 600 meters above sea level: from this height it is easy to lose your gaze among the green Tuscan hills, the cultivations of olive trees and vineyards and the cypresses that mark the whole landscape pleasantly. From the Tower of the Renaissance Palazzo di Montepulciano the view reaches up to the Sibillini Mountains and Mount Cimone and when the air is particularly clear even the Gran Sasso d'Italia in Abruzzo.
During our tour you will certainly not miss tasting the excellent Vino Nobile di Montepulciano (one of the most renowned wines in the world) ideal to accompany the local cuisine, which offers simple but very tasty dishes - ham, crostini, the bruschetta, pici which are handmade spaghetti, which were once prepared by farmers who could not afford meat or other more expensive foods, seasoned with meat sauce.
Our team of experts is at your disposal. We can costumize the itinerary considering your wishes.
